Apocrypha Expansion Press Release

The next EVE Online expansion named “Apocrypha” will be coming to your game client — and store shelves — 10 March 2009.

The fabric of space itself will be transformed as vast, unpredictable wormholes open to connect previously unexplored regions of the universe to the stars of New Eden. The seeds of advanced new technology await inside of these cosmic anomalies for those brave enough to explore them. This infusion of technology will enable production of the most dynamic vessels ever – Tech 3 modular ships with an astounding amount of customizability that can fill any role from skirmish muscle to industrial support.

This new expansion will also include so-called “epic” mission arcs, and the official release of EVElopedia.

NTRabbit turns 100,000,000

Long time EVE player NTRabbit has just clocked in 100 meeeeellion skill points in EVE.

Daaaaaaaayamn.

To commemorate the occasion, he’s posted a thread on the EVE forums chronicling his very own backstory.

I made this post, a rare post, to celebrate myself reaching this achievement, and to use what benevolence I have to share some of my greatness, history and wisdoms with you. I am sure that many of you have enjoyed it.

To conclude – don’t hate me now, I have always been better than you. Now I just have the ninth digit to signify it.

Heh, oh NTRabbit…

Congratulations, dude.  That’s a ridiculous achievement.

New PCU Record

I thought EVE was dying?  (sarcasm)

According to a thread on EVE’s forums, backed up with a post from CCP Explorer, EVE achieved a new concurrent user record of “45,186 online pilots at 20:41 GMT”.  No word yet on the level of lag the game was experiencing at the time, but since the thread is on page two without any significant complaints I’d say things were pretty reasonable.

Not too shabby, guys. :)

Community News, EON Wall Planner 2009

Kicking off a new Community News section of the site was something I’ve been hoping to do a long time ago.  It’s a way to get some of the news of EVE to you faster, filtering out the noise to bring some of the more interesting happenings to you sooner than before.  Note that this is not a replacement for the WDA podcast, but more of a supplement to it.  Feel free to leave feedback and let me know what you think. :)

I’ve talked the state of the podcast here and on my blog at winterblink.com, and haven’t podfaded.  Real life intrudes, every so often, and Urban and I are just going through some crazy busy seasons at work.  So stay tuned to my personal blog and here for more information on that as things develop.

#172: A Pre-Nerf

Whew, been a while eh?  Been pretty swamped with real life stuff on my weekends, but I’ve been keeping myself busy with some other aspects of EVE including (but not limited to) playing it, writing about it, and keeping up with all the Fanfest news, not to mention all the stuff with the new patch.

If you’ve not seen the coverage coming from Fanfest this year, it’s pretty great.  Community coverage has totally outpaced conventional media coverage of it, which is something I always love to see. :)

Podcast isn’t dead, just on a slight hiatus as Urban is busy as hell with his job, and new ENV is just about ready to go live.

Status of Stuffs

Hey all, long time  :)

First lets get the podcast status out of the way.  No we’re not dead, Urban is just nursing a hell of a cold.  Most people have probably been hit or known someone to be hit by whatever bug is floating around, Urban just took a lot longer.  Most likely that’s due to him working so much he’s barely had any human contact.

So as soon as possible you’ll probably be getting some ridiculously long show (like last one) when we catch up on all the stuff we missed because one of us got sick or busy (like last one).

Comic’s going great, thanks for asking.

Other stuff, like Weekly Tinfoil and Frontline Dispatches.  In both cases, the authors who wanted to try doing this have found other things to focus their time on.  No hard feelings of course, it’s just unfortunate.  I don’t want to retire the content, what’s there is great and at some point someone (maybe me?) will step up and start filling in.

I’ve done a bit of tweaking on the site, just tightening up the layout a bit so things aren’t totally spread out.  I’m still doing more there, so expect some improvements as I start ticking off items on my to-do list.

That’s it for the quick update.  Feel free to post any questions or comments about any of this of course, and you’ll be hearing more podcast goodness as soon as Urban’s weak English immune system starts doing its job.
