Unless you’ve been living in the drone regions, you might have heard there’s an expansion going live this week for EVE. Well, tomorrow’s the day. The DAY. Hint hint. Set a long skill training, because they’ve planned for a full day’s worth of downtime.
CCP’s not about to let your EVE client get bored of course, so they’ve been gracious enough to destroy your monthly bandwidth quota with a staged series of patches.
As we launch EVE Online: Apocrypha there is quite a bit to download and to get that done as smoothly as possible we will have two patches to get the full expansion. The first patch will be made available at approximately 09:30 GMT on 10 March via the auto-patching system, and it’s a big one at about 1.35 GB. The Mac client will have one patch as it didn’t have premium content, this patch will be 2.17 GB. Once Tranquility opens we will have a second, much smaller, patch which will give your client the final version and get you ready to find those wormholes!
You poor, poor bastards with dial-up… my condolences.

It’s an interesting trailer from a marketing perspective. Its vision of EVE is nice, I just miss the days when EVE trailers showed EVE. I’ll blog more about that on winterblink.com shortly.

No kidding! Wow it’s been a while since those who love the mining profession have received any new stuff, lets see what they’re getting with the new expansion:
CCP has taken the wraps off the new Apocrypha site which shows off the features coming in the March-dated expansion, as well as a new teaser that has not been seen until now.
In general the site really shows off the typical style of EVE expansions: happy, sunshine filled affairs, with upbeat jpop-based soundtracks.

CCP Incognito has posted a pretty interesting dev blog about the upcoming AI changes for NPCs you will find in Apocrypha’s wormholes.
In what has to be the most ironic ship loss in the history of EVE, Shrike’s Darwin’s Revenge Avatar titan was taken out, on Darwin Day.
If you like line graphs and diagrams, boy have CCP got a blog for you. We finally receive the wrapup report on the POS exploit, courtesy of CCP Lilith.
The POS exploit has now been researched thoroughly both from the technical perspective as well as with regard to the impact on the economy in EVE Online. We have left no stone unturned in order to be able to understand how this bug came into our code and why it was not spotted sooner, learning from this event in order to help prevent this from happening again in the future.

DJ FunkyBacon of EVE Radio just dropped a note on the EVE forums about a live show being done today that should shed some light no the situation with Band of Brothers, with information direct from Dianabolic of Reikoku.
Just a heads up to the community. I’ve just gotten done interviewing Dianabolic of Reikoku as to what happened from the BoB persepctive and what it all means, and he had an interesting challenge for the ones responsible. We’re presently working on getting a rep from Goonswarm to make a statement as well, and there may be reps from one or both alliances guesting on the show today.
Possibility of a Goon and BoB rep on the same live show after yesterday’s events? Hehe, yeah :)
